    I've never quite understood why British Telecom felt the need the advertise when they were the only phone service available. ...GASP! Pat, you bitch!

    • @97channel
      @97channel 8 років тому

      Yeah, I suppose. But people knew what telephones were and whether or not they wanted one, so I doubt they gained much more business through advertising. And they never really encouraged people with promotions or offers, it was just a "Telephones allow you to make phone calls." kind of pitch. The unsolvable mystery though is why the local water board ever advertised. "Darling, I've just decided. We need water in this household. I'm ringing Severn Trent first thing.".

    OH MY GOD!! I remember all of these SO WELL! I haven't seen the Dulux Weathershield ad ("That's the ICI acrylic in it...") - well, since they took it off the air! - but the moment I saw it, I could instantly predict EVERY image, EVERY word, EVERY intonation... EVERYTHING! Such innocent ads... from back in the days when things didn't have to be AMAAAAAZINGLY AMAZING - just to get noticed... :D

      I'd forgotten about all of these, but the memory of them came back instantly, even though I was very young when they were on . There's something really soothing about watching them, my parents must've stuck me in front of the telly for hours back then! :/

    That lift ad was the reason I logged on to UA-cam today.My brother used to love that song!Even though it was a British ad,it had a kind of U.S feel to it.I always imagined one of those kids from the TV show 'Fame' singing this as a solo to end the show.(I also wanted to see the full version).

    Do you think corporations have EVER minded who buys their products? They absolutely never have. It is naive to think that these adverts are not plotted down to the finest detail. There are certain messages that they wish to get across, and in recent years their determination to do so has intensified something crazy. If they are just interested in selling products to "the masses", why don't they pack commercials exclusively with members of the majority community?

  • @agfagaevart
    @agfagaevart 11 років тому

    There's no agenda! They're selling products to the masses. Only these days, they don't care what skin colour a buyer has.

  • @robicenco1
    @robicenco1 11 років тому

    True. But the advertising agencies have gone into absolute overdrive in the past few years. The agenda is so in-your-face it's oppressive.
